Do you want to expand your network, gain valuable board and organizational experience, and contribute to the chemistry community in the Netherlands? Then we are looking for you!

Jong KNCV is the youth division of the KNCV and organizes activities for students, PhD candidates, and young professionals in the field of chemistry. Examples include company visits, the Jong KNCV Café, networking events, workshops, and occasions such as the *Avond van de Chemie* (Evening of Chemistry). Together, we connect young chemists from across the Netherlands.
For the upcoming board term, we are looking for:
Secretary
Treasurer
Board Member for Social Media & Communications
Two general board members
General board members contribute ideas for new activities and assist in organizing and executing events. We value initiative and welcome those who wish to develop ideas into successful activities. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with an interest in chemistry and the chemistry community who enjoy collaboration and taking initiative, and who reside in the Netherlands (international candidates living or remaining in the Netherlands are, of course, also very welcome). We aim for a diverse board composition with a good mix of students and working professionals.
Why become a board member?
Our current board members cite the following as the biggest advantages:
building a valuable professional network;
discovering various fields within chemistry;
organizing inspiring events;
developing skills such as collaboration, communication, organization, and leadership;
new friendships and contacts within and outside the Netherlands.
Or, as one of our board members describes it:
"Jong KNCV has helped me not only to grow professionally but also to become part of a community that shares the same passion for chemistry."
What do you do as a board member?
As a board member, you work with an enthusiastic and diverse team of students, PhD candidates, and young professionals. Depending on your role, you will focus on board duties, communications, or finance, but everyone contributes to organizing activities and further developing Jong KNCV.
You get the chance to:
to build a large network within the Dutch chemistry community;
to collaborate with students, researchers, and professionals;
to develop organizational, communication, and administrative skills;
to get a behind-the-scenes look at the KNCV and the chemical community in the Netherlands;
to establish international contacts in some roles as well.
Time investment
On average, you spend about two hours a week on your board duties. During busy periods, for example, around an event, this may be slightly more, while during quieter periods it may be less.
In addition, we meet once every four weeks. This board meeting usually lasts one to two hours.
