What is the Spotlight Prize?
Are you a PhD student and are you interested in winning €500 by pitching about your research? Jong KNCV grants you this opportunity! During the Avond van de Chemie, 3 pitches of 3 minutes each will be presented. The audience of the Avond van de Chemie will choose the winner, who will take home the Spotlight Prize and €500 and make an Eye-Opener for the KNCV! The two runners up both receive €250. The Spotlight Prize is powered by Ardena.
You can enter the selection round by making a short video with a maximum of 1 minute about you and your research. The deadline for 2024 is prolonged to the 17th of June, check our socials for updates.. You can either email the video to us or you can share your video with Jong KNCV via Linkedin, Instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook. Or if you don't feel comfortable sharing online, you can send it via e-mail to jong@kncv.nl. A jury will then select the best three videos to pitch on the Avond van de Chemie. It's important to emphasize that while pitches may be delivered in English, the ‘Avond van de Chemie’ itself will be conducted entirely in Dutch. If an English-speaking finalist is selected, the award ceremony will naturally be conducted in English.
The competition is targeted at PhD students who have a clear connection to the Netherlands. This means that both Dutch and International PhD students can participate, provided that they follow their PhD trajectory in the Netherlands. This year, you can therefore participate either in Dutch or in English. So take a leap and surprise us!
