Education and work experience
After completing my chemistry studies at Utrecht University and subsequently earning my PhD there, I faced a choice in 1999 regarding where to launch my career. I ultimately chose DSM Research in Geleen, a well-considered decision I would be happy to tell you more about. Yet, that was just the beginning. Over the past 18 years, I have discovered what truly engages me and what I value in a job. While I still thoroughly enjoy working in the chemical industry, I have also had the opportunity to contribute to solving interesting challenges in various other roles and companies. I am at my best when working with teams, spanning diverse backgrounds and locations, to tackle complex sustainability issues. I am currently employed by Dow Benelux in Terneuzen. Through my involvement in various committees, boards, and program councils, I have also gained valuable insight into the inner workings of other companies and institutions.
Specialty
I enjoy using my experience to help others on their career paths. I did this in my role as a ‘people leader’ at my company, and I’m happy to do the same now with the KNCV in the region. Based in the Southwest Netherlands, I can assist you with job applications, career doubts and decisions, switching jobs or companies, or simply having a great conversation about what fascinates you and how you can make a living from it. After all, there’s still a long time to go before you can retire, right?
